At West Ascension Parish Hospital, our Food & Nutrition Services Department plays a vital role in healing, recovery, and overall well-being. We believe good nutrition is essential to good health, and we are committed to delivering safe, satisfying, and medically appropriate meals that support patient recovery and promote lifelong wellness.

Patient Meal Services

Our team of dietary professionals works closely with physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians to ensure every meal aligns with your prescribed care plan. From diabetic and low-sodium diets to cardiac, renal, and soft diets, our meals are prepared with clinical precision and care.

♦  Meals are delivered three times daily directly to patient rooms:

•  Breakfast:  7:30 AM

•  Lunch:  12:00 PM

•  Dinner:  4:45 PM

♦  Cultural, religious, or personal dietary requests can be accommodated with advance notice.

♦  Registered Dietitian is available for nutrition assessments, education, and support during your stay.

Important Note: All patient meals are prescribed by your physician and reviewed by our clinical dietitians. If you have any specific dietary concerns, please notify your nurse so we can address them promptly.

Visitor & Guest Meals

A variety of hot meals, snacks, and beverages are available at affordable prices. Please ask a staff member for menu options or meal vouchers if you’re staying with a loved one.

Nutrition Education & Counseling

Our Registered Dietitian offers one-on-one nutrition counseling to help patients manage and understand chronic conditions such as:

Diabetes
High blood pressure
Heart disease
Renal disorders
Weight management

If your physician refers you for nutrition counseling, our team will work with you to develop a plan tailored to your health goals even after discharge.

Additional Amenities

For your convenience, snack and beverage vending machines are available 24/7 in the Emergency Department waiting area.
